In short: LabForty takes on custom projects where performance, reliability and engineering quality decide the outcome: web platforms, iOS and Android apps, fintech platforms, intranets, CRM systems and private AI. We turn down maintenance-only work on off-the-shelf sites so senior engineers can stay focused on architecture. Much of our work is in financial services, and the discipline that requires shapes every project we deliver.
People sometimes ask why we turn down work. A business owner calls and wants someone to keep a WordPress site updated, swap a banner now and then and renew plugins. It is honest work. It is just not what we do.
At LabForty we take on custom projects where performance, reliability and engineering quality decide the outcome: web platforms, iOS and Android apps, fintech platforms, company intranets such as LabForty Core, CRM and support systems and private AI. Here is why we chose that focus, and what it means for the people who work with us.
Focus is a quality decision
A team gets good at what it does every day. If half our week went to plugin updates and theme tweaks, our engineers would be switching between very different kinds of work, and our standards would drift toward the lowest common denominator.
By saying no to maintenance-only work on off-the-shelf sites, we keep our time for projects where architecture matters. That is where a senior engineer makes a real difference, and where clients actually need one.
It also keeps us honest. When we take a project, it is because we believe we are the right team for it, not because the calendar had a gap.
Speed is architecture, not configuration
Real performance comes from foundational design choices, not optimisation settings added at the end.
On a website that means server rendering where it helps, lean JavaScript, images served at the right size and technical SEO in the codebase. Google's Core Web Vitals give clear targets: LCP within 2.5 seconds, INP of 200 milliseconds or less and CLS of 0.1 or less (web.dev). We plan for them from the first sprint.
On an app or platform it means data models that scale, APIs designed for the screens that call them, sensible caching and background work that does not block the user. You cannot bolt that on later without paying for a rebuild.
Fintech-grade reliability
A good part of our work is in financial services. Two examples are separate clients with separate projects.
Leverage Shares. For this issuer of exchange-traded products, we build websites for different markets, including the UK, Europe and the US, together with product microsites, an internal intranet and the web API behind them. The public Leverage Shares case study covers the US ETF website.
FlexInvest. For FlexInvest, we build the investment app and platform, together with the public website that introduces it.
We also deliver other fund and investment websites, such as Themes ETFs, IncomeShares and Relay Race Investments.
Fintech teaches discipline that benefits every project:
- Correctness first. Every number has to be right, every time, and every change has to be traceable.
- Security by default. Authentication, permissions, audit trails and careful handling of personal data are not optional extras.
- Release discipline. Changes move through dev, main and production with tests at every stage, and someone accountable approves each release.
- Monitoring and support. When something goes wrong, you find out before your users do, and you have a plan.
We bring the same habits to an intranet, a CRM or a corporate website. Not every project carries financial risk, but every client deserves software that behaves predictably.
Senior engineers, AI-assisted delivery
Our projects are led by senior engineers who own the architecture, the code review and the client relationship. That is a deliberate choice. The most expensive mistakes in software are made early, in design, by people who have not seen enough systems fail.
We also use AI agentic coding in our daily work. Cloud coding agents open pull requests on well-defined tasks. Our engineers review every change, tests run through each environment and a person approves every merge and release. AI bots help triage support requests so the right engineer sees the right issue faster. I wrote about this in detail in AI agentic coding in a real studio.
The effect is simple: senior people spend less time on repetitive code and more time on architecture, security and the decisions that matter to the client. AI makes a strong team faster. It does not replace the judgement that makes the team strong.
What working with us looks like
We follow the same structure on every project, whatever the size:
- Agree scope first. Milestones, responsibilities and priorities are set before development starts, with progress shared throughout.
- Design for the real users. We start from the audience, the business processes and the existing systems, not from a template.
- Build it properly. Clean architecture, tests, performance budgets, technical SEO for web projects and security reviewed by people.
- Stay with it. Development and ongoing support sit with one team, with a support scope agreed for each project, including priority plans for critical systems.
LabForty is ISO 9001:2015 certified by TÜV Rheinland for the development and support of websites, online stores and applications (certificate).
It is not the cheapest way to get a website. It is a reliable way to get software that keeps working as your business grows.
Is this the right fit for you?
We are probably a good match if your project has real users depending on it, data that has to be correct, integrations with other systems or performance targets that matter to your revenue. Fintech platforms, customer apps, internal tools, support systems and high-traffic websites all fit.
We are probably not the right team if you need a basic template site kept up to date. There are good providers for that, and we are happy to say so.
