Apple's first touchscreen Mac ships November 6 from $2,899

Apple introduced a MacBook Pro with a tandem OLED "PROLED XDR" display and touch input on October 28, 2026, the first Mac with a touchscreen, according to Apple. Pre-orders opened the same day in 30 countries and regions. Deliveries and in-store availability start on Friday, November 6.

US prices start at $2,899 for the 14-inch model with M5 Pro and $3,399 for the 16-inch. M5 Max models start at $4,499 and $4,799. As Ars Technica notes, the chips are the same M5 Pro and M5 Max as in the previous refresh, although the M6 series has already reached other Macs. Ars also notes that Apple referred to burn-in protection without explaining its approach.

The display reaches up to 2,000 nits peak brightness for HDR and SDR content, with a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a refresh rate from 10Hz to 120Hz and colour coverage of both P3 and Adobe RGB. The touch sensor is built into the panel rather than layered on top. macOS translates touches into clicks, so existing apps work from day one, and updated gesture APIs let developers design for touch. Developers can also test the touch behaviour of their iOS and iPadOS apps directly on the display.

Other changes: the Dynamic Island comes to the Mac as the home for Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI. The 14-inch model weighs 3 pounds, half a pound less than before, and the 16-inch weighs 4 pounds. Unified memory goes up to 128GB and storage up to 16TB. Apple quotes up to 24 hours of battery life from its own tests in September 2026. It says M5 Max can run language models with hundreds of billions of parameters entirely on device, without giving a speed figure.

For European buyers, the footnotes matter. Siri AI on macOS 27.2 is a beta in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, so not in German or Bulgarian. Apple also states that Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. It does not say whether the same applies to the Mac.

LabForty reported the touchscreen plans as a rumour in September. They are now confirmed, with prices and a ship date.
